3D Art Freebie Challenge-April 2021-Winners Announced "Spring Forward" -Entries Thread Only

How do you feel about "Spring Forward"?

We would love to see what you think about "Spring Forward"!

The Rules For This Months Freebie Challenge are:

1. A minimum of  (5) Freebies must be included in your image along with Links to the freebies you have used. For an item to be considered free it must be offered as a freebie for the whole month. The exception to this rule is all Daz Bi-Weekly Freebies will be allowed throughout the entire month in which they are free as well as the month following their release as a freebie (For a total of 2 months). Also, if a freebie is broken down into multiple downloads/links/parts (IE like if the freebie is broken down into 3 zips etc...)it only counts as 1 freebie, not 3.
2. There will be a Maximum of 5 purchased items.
3. Base figures (All Gen 2,3,4, and Genesis 1,2,3) as well as their general morphs packs (Morphs++ and similar) do not count as a purchased item or a freebie and may be used as needed
4.Your Rendered Picture must be a new render and postwork is allowed but you MUST include a before and after Postwork versions of your entry in the Entry Thread.
5. All DAZ 3D Programs are allowed (IE Bryce, Carrara, Daz Studio and Hexagon) plus Poser for the contest.
6. All entries are subject to the Daz3D TOS Found Here: Terms Of Service
7. You may enter a Maximum of 4 Entries per month.
8. You may edit your entry as much as you like in the main thread but once it is posted to the "Entries Thread" it may not be further modified. Also, if you edit or add things, be sure you update any links or freebie changes you make.
This Freebie Challenge will end Friday April 30th @ 23:59 Daz time.

We just released a little plug-in we originally developed for internal use. But this one turned out to be so incredibly useful that we couldn't help but share it with all Daz users :)

Stilt Walker (Scifi walking cottage)

I wanted to attempt something more complicated this time; it didn't turn out that well, but it was a great learning experience. Finally figured out how to align textures somewhat and work with seams. I'll have to update some of my older stuff to fix the textures sometime. I'm planning to update this in the future, add more detilas (espeically on the legs), some objects and probably an interior. Maybe some swampy ground plane as well if I can figure out how to make it.

Amphicar and Fiat 126

Many moons ago around 2005 I started wring my own game in 3Impact (anyone remember that?) anyway I realised I could do the coding in C++ OK but creating the artwork would take me too long so I paid a couple of people to make me an Amphicar and a Fiat 126 (it was meant to be an ironic racing game and there was going to be an Austin allegro and a train etc.

Anyway 3Impact suddenly stopped being supported and I had kids so the project get binned with the Amphicar and the Fiat only being completed so roll on today and I found the project intact in my backups

OK so here is the deal if I upload the 3ds models and textures could someone please convert them over to daz and rig them so their steering wheels and wheels.. all work and post them here for everyone to use?

Some time ago you had a freebie on your website, a beach chair like the one in the picture. Will you ever make this available again. Keep checking your site but hardly ever see updates there. Really want to get the Kitty again to. Lost all most disks moving cross country a few years back and as such all the freebies you had.

Lady Noir for G8.1F (based on "Blade Runner's" Rachael). Head Morph only.

This is the first time I am shaping and packaging from scratch a head morph for a Genesis character, so please forgive me any errors that I might have made. If something is wrong, just let me know and I will do my best to fix the problem. If something is unclear in the ReadMe.txt file, please don't hesitate to ask. 

I would appreciate your help with potential blunders. As I said - this is new territory for me.

I did not include any texture maps, because I am pretty bad at making them. I believe you are better off using existing textures. In the images below I have used Victoria 7's for G3F face map that I somewhat modified - most notably I removed the eyebrows and replaced them with fibermesh ones and changed the eyeshadow and lip color in Photoshop.

For the promo images I also used the Yvette hair and the Business Suit for G3F.

This version of Lady Noir is not a continuation of my Lady Noir for V4 or the G3 convertion from V4. It is a brand new head morph created specifically for G8.1F.

A little script to remove the superfluous keys puppeteer creates

If you use puppeteer a lot for pose-to-pose animation you may find this script useful.  As you may know, when you click a puppeteer dot it adds a key for every single property regardless of whether that property has actually been changed.  This leads to a lot of "fluff" on the timeline; keys you don't need and so forth (thousands of them).  The existence of these keys affects both performance and animation, especially if you want to change some property later and you find there's already a bunch of keys for it.  It also clutters up the timeline display making it harder for you to find the key you actually want to manipulate.

What this script does is iterate all properties of all nodes in the scene, deleting all keys that are default values (if all keys are the same), or if all keys are the same as the first key, it deletes all the other keys except the first.  This may clean up your timeline a bit.

(Note: Relatively new to Daz scripting, so please feel free to criticise my code and/or point out annoying corner cases I've missed that makes the whole idea fail).

Tag Master for easily tagging multiple files in a product

In response to a request from another user, I'm sharing a script which allows you to easily add user metadata tags to all files within a product. As there isn't a way to bulk tag files, you have to do it one by one which is extremely tedious.

To use, run the script and it will show you a list of all your products, which you can filter and sort, then select one or more products. Right-click the tag column to add comma-separated tags, and when you click Apply it will add those tags to all the files in the selected products. See screenshot below.

Known limitation #1: You can only tag all files within a product with the same tags; if you wish to tag different files with different tags then you need to do it manually file by file, per the usual process in DAZ Studio.

Known limitation #2: Due to the limitation of the DAZ Scripting API, we cannot append tags to existing tags, therefore tagging a product with ABC and then tagging again with XYZ will replace ABC with XYZ. In other words you can only replace tags not append additional tags.

Invisible Pantleg Bulge 01 {Projection Morph}

Testing out an idea here: when applied to the figure, G8M, it will project the morph into the clothing that is affected by the legs. Generally speaking, the pants as well as any footwear that goes over the leg. Works well enough with several clothing items. It is not recommended for "robes" ...

Bed with dForce Blankets

The mattresses, blankets and pillows were my first experiment in blender - there was a lot of trial and error involved, I don't know if they're made properly; the wooden bits are done in Daz with primitives. Made these because I couldn't find a bed with a mattress that provided good results with smoothing modifier; all the ones I tried created gigantic indentations at the single touch of a finger. I made the high poly one first, but I went overboard with it and the results ended up being the exact opposite; the indentations were wrapping so tight around the character, that they were barely visible. The mid poly one seems to have the best results so far.

 

The following items are included:

 

- L/R Nightstands
- L/R Pillows
- Bed Frame
- A low poly mattress
- A high poly mattress with and without creases
- A mid poly mattress with and without creases
- 3 rectangular dForce blankets with different types of creases
- 2 deformed dForce blankets if you want to cover a character partially (used in the promo picture) or if you just want a messy result
- A static blanket
- OBJ files for both the bed props and the office furniture I previously posted
