And I'm working on a much-improved version (some with top coat, lots of presets to make life easier, etc.)

I thought I'd start a thread for any questions people might have about the shaders.

The format of the shaders is a little confusing (one thing I'll improve).

The Base shaders are the root shaders that the other presets use. The terms after 'Base' are what the noise affects.

So, for example, WTP Base Bump means that there are noise parameters for Bump. WTP Base BumpCutout means that there are noise parameters for Bump and Cutout Opacity.

Ideally, use the simplest shader that covers what you are interested in, because each extra set of parameters slows down the render slightly.

With the second set I'm working on, it will be more explicit, with a subfolder of 'base shaders' and then subfolders for things like Ground, Skin, Skydome, etc. Also new shaders like WTP Emission and WTP Refraction.

Random thoughts:

With Base Color, you can generate very subtle variations in color that can make something look more realistic. The key is to use colors that are VERY similar; maybe one color is slightly less saturated and lighter. The Skin presets do this, so that there is a slightly uneven look to it.

For some reason, Bump scale is 100x the scale of other noise. So if your color is set to 10/10/10 tiling, and you want bump that matches it, bump tiling should be .1/.1/.1. Remember higher tiling means smaller details.

Bump noise can replace Roughness. It's interesting to reflect on the fact that's what Roughness essentially _is_. If you make a mirror shader, then have bump noise with a reasonably high tiling, it looks like you've increased Roughness. (Mind you, there's not much reason to DO this, but it's neat)

If you have a surface you like but want to add noise to it, copy the surface, apply the WTP shader, then paste the surface on top. You have thus created a noise version of your original surface. For example, if you want to turn a tapestry into a moth-eaten tapestry, you can copy the surface, apply WTP Base Cutout, paste the surface back, and then adjust Cutout parameters.

Channels for noise parameters uses the convention of: regular channel, secondary channel. So WTP Base Color uses 'Base Color' like normal, and then has Secondary Base Color for a second color. The noise generates a pattern between the first and second channels. The primary channel retains mapping! So in the tapestry example, if the tapestry also has a Cutout Opacity Map, the map is preserved in the primary channel and then combines that with the Secondary Cutout Opacity.

What’s new

This new version of mcjTeleblender and mcjBlendBot includes these additional features

- compatible with Blender 2.66.3 and up ( was also tested on 2.66a and 2.66.5

- the Tiling settings of the Daz Studio materials are conveyed to Blender

- the Bump map strengths of Daz Studio’s materials are carried over to Blender ( Blender Bump Strength = ( DS Max - DS Min ) * DS Strength )

- If two identical figures or two identical props are in the Daz Studio Scene, and mcjTeleBlender’s
“Rename Nodes” is enabled, the two figures wont be mistakenly welded together in Blender

- There’s now a button to set all those mcjTeleblender settings to a default state

- There’s an extremely secret backdoor mode, available for the nerdy crew

please download the new package named mcjBlendBotForBlender2663AndUp.zip found in the attachments

install it in the scripts/modules folder of your Blender 2.66.3 and up

McjTeleblender is a kit of scripts designed to quickly export Daz Studio scenes, even animations, and render them in Blender using Cycles.

I would like to put up a freebie on share cg but I wonder what I have to take care of.

The thing I want to give out are these icicles

Like when I save it as a prop with the material, what are the correct prop save options, what metadata do I have to include, do I need to compress the file, stuff like that and later what I have to take care of at sharecg.

I decided this had broaded in scope from original thread ( www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/106626/will-timmins-procedural-shaders ), so here's a list of freebie stuff I've made:

Some new procedural shaders for 3DL, including Normal2, which mixes two sets of colors (with maps) based on Normal (top/bottom of shape), sand and snow covered stuff for geoshells: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/803826/WT3 Shaders.zip

Very much a work in progress, as there are obvious gaps and things to work on and no documentation, but I figured I'd throw it out there. It's not THAT complicated. Note that, due to a passing interest, most of the shaders wrangle with transparencies/refractive stuff.

Another new thing, these are four Material presets (found under My DAZ 3D Library/Materials, if you plopped it in the right folder). There are two (Blank Genesis2 Light and Blank Genesis Light) which will replace a figure's materials with a set of materials with no image maps (NONE). The other two do the same thing, but only for mouth materials.

Why?

Iray is extremely sensitive to texture load, and if you go over your card's limit, welp, things sloooooow down. So it can be important to get rid of every texture you can.

For figures at medium to long range, the first presets can erase all the details you aren't going to see. At closer range, there are still potentially dozens of different maps for teeth on a bunch of figures... none of whom have open mouths! So, zap zap zap zap.

If you want even more savings, you can set Thin Shell: On and set Translucency to 0.

That should cover most of it.

Two Gem Bangles for Genesis 3 Female, one chunky and one narrow. Load separately (and I've included props for left and right wrists). I only supplied the shaders that are on them - you can download and use my Jewelry Shader pack from ShareCG as well and use those....they work great. You can also use any other Iray or 3DL shaders that you have. The poly count is high for each one, so keep that in mind.

The below is a paraphrased version of the original posts from Little Dragon's Krystal v1.3 thread in the old forums. Some verbiage has been changed so that the words do not look like -I- am the one that made the model, which seems to be a bit of a confusion on DeviantArt at times.....

The talented CharleyFox (a.k.a. FoxHunt) has graciously permitted Little Dragon to adapt his superb Krystal model for use in Poser and D|S.

Version 1.3 of the figure is now available.

For those of you who've monitored Krystal's development since the initial announcement in 2007, the version 1.3 update offers a number of advantages over the original, along with new features. I'll gloss over the high points:

- Improved shoulder and leg legging for more realistic posing
- Integrated V4/G2-style magnet deformers, with Python script and magnetize pose
- New head and body morphs
- Joint-offset dials for improved compatibility with V4, M4, and A3 poses
- Posable whiskers, for characters that need them
- Updated DAZ|Studio material support
- Support for Studio's level-of-detail (LOD) feature
- Updated DMC file for Mimic and Studio lipsync
- Relevant updates to all conformers
